“Turkic World Tourism Capital” project is launched by the OTS Secretariat at the 6th Tourism Ministers’ Meeting took place in Kokand, Uzbekistan in 2021. 

Kokand was granted “Turkic World Tourism Capital” status for the year 2022. 

Historical city of Azerbaijan, Shamakhi became the Second Tourism Capital of the Turkic World for the year 2023.

Spiritual city of Kazakhstan, Turkistan is the Third Tourism Capital of the Turkic World for the year 2024.

During the year, the city that holds the title is hosting series of local and international events with the aim to promote different aspects of the Turkic culture.
